Family Forums

What is a Family Forum?

Family Forums bring families affected by a workplace tragedy together to share, network and, ultimately, heal. At this special event, spouses, parents, siblings and close friends gather to learn coping skills for grief, active listening skills, tips on how the occupational health and safety system works, self-care, and so much more.

Upcoming Family Forums – 2021

Threads of Life hosts three regional Family Forums across Canada. Traditionally these forums are held in person but for 2021 all three will be held virtually, in order to ensure the health and safety of participants, volunteers and staff.

For more information on the forums, including registration information, click on any of the following links. Please note that workshops and forum activities are only available in English at this time.

Atlantic Family Forum – for families in Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland and Labrador

Central Family Forum – for families in Ontario, Quebec and Nunavut.

Western Family Forum – for families in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Yukon and Northwest Territories

“Making the decision to attend the family forum was a first step in acknowledging my need to grieve. I received a quick call back from Threads of Life and was linked to another family who experienced a similar loss and were a great listening team. They reassured me in my journey for support and to find something meaningful for my Dad.”
