waterfallIf the last two years have taught me anything it is how fortunate I’ve been. I live in what is arguably the best country in the world. I’ve been blessed with a loving family and friends who support and energize me. As the Director, Fundraising & Partnerships at Threads of Life I’m grateful to be able to contribute to our mission, helping families who are living in the aftermath of workplace tragedy to heal, and promoting the elimination of life-altering workplace injuries, illnesses and deaths.

My role has allowed me to meet and be inspired by the extraordinary courage, resilience and spirit of our family members. Through our peer-based programs, thousands of families have been supported along their journey of healing. We often hear when workplace tragedies occur the family feels very isolated. When a new family finds Threads of Life they quickly realize that they’re no longer alone. They are now surrounded by their peers who provide a community of support. They often share their gratitude for finding Threads of Life:

“Words cannot adequately express my gratitude to you for putting on such a wonderful Threads of Life Virtual Family Forum this past weekend! The Reflections Ceremony was so moving and a really nice memorial to our loved ones and families who’ve been affected by a workplace tragedy, injury and occupational disease. I didn’t want the evening to end…. I’m so grateful for all of your efforts to make this year’s Family Forum such a big success.”

All of our programs (which are provided at no cost) are only possible because of the tremendous individual and corporate support we receive. Hundreds of volunteers are responsible for the success of our annual Steps for Life walks. Our Steps for Life volunteers often share their gratitude for being able to help our Threads of Life families. Treena Dixon said, “Volunteering with the Red Deer Steps for Life Walk’s planning committee is a great way to connect with like-minded individuals locally and across the country, to promote workplace safety and injury prevention as a team. There is no greater satisfaction than watching your team grow and accomplish great things together!”

Our corporate partners, too, often share how they are positively impacted by Threads of Life:

“While our objective is to eliminate all workplace injuries and fatalities, we recognize that it is not the reality we face today. Thousands of Canadians are injured at work every day. We are grateful to provide additional support and visibility for Threads of Life so that they can continue to provide support for families that need it.” -Mark’s Commercial

Together we are helping families heal and promoting the elimination of life-altering workplace injuries, illnesses and deaths and for that I’m grateful.
