For the past 30 years, I’ve been on a profound journey of self-reflection through the art of journaling. In the early 90s my life came crashing down. In desperation, at what felt like my rock bottom, I picked up a journal and faced the blank page. For me, it was like discovering a window in a wall, and changed the trajectory of my life.

Writing has been my compass during crisis navigation and a comforting companion during moments of calm. This practice has supported my work as a visual artist and creativity facilitator, helped deepen my personal relationships, and has grounded me when I needed it most. Most of all, a journaling practice has nurtured long-term healing in a safe and playful way – from the “inside out”.

Over the years of teaching art and creativity, I’ve developed exercises and prompts to invite safe risk-taking, using writing as a powerful expressive tool for accessing inner wisdom and connection.

I extend a warm invitation to a 90-minute workshop, Write Me A River which holds the promise of opening the door to gentle transformation. In this quiet space, we’ll explore the power of constraint, limiting our answers to easy ones. Using playful and curious prompts, we’ll allow currents of sensory writing to flow onto the page. Then we’ll use words as “seeds” for insight.

Here’s a sneak peek into what we’ll be navigating together:

River Writing – a meandering “back door” approach

Discover how a simple exercise can be a gentle anchor during challenging times. We’ll explore the fail-safe tool of River Writing designed to help you turn the volume down on that noisy inner critic and get your thoughts on the page.

Free Flow Sensory Writing

Immerse yourself in the liberating experience of free-flow sensory writing—a practice that invites your senses onto the page, unrestricted and unburdened. Think of it as planting seeds for future harvesting fruit from a garden of creative mental health.

Safe Scaffolding

Explore the option to gently journey into more challenging terrain within the secure embrace of our online workshop, fostering an atmosphere of trust and vulnerability. Focus is a way to move within a grounded place with curiosity. Sharing is optional and we’ll be able to exchange our “seeds” of inspiration to share in the chat.

The Art of Improvisation

Learn to lean into the “unknown” on the page, celebrating the spontaneity that arises when you allow your innermost thoughts and feelings to unfold organically. Leaving space for magic to happen, you may make some surprising connections.

Lower the Bar to Celebrate Success:

I like to build a bridge over the fear of failure by focusing on process over product, creating a safe environment for discovery.

This workshop is an opportunity to dip your toes into the gentle river of self-discovery. Whether you’re a seasoned journal keeper or someone just starting their exploration, I invite you to join me in this intimate gathering.
