Steps for Life – Walking for Families of Workplace Tragedy has been the flagship fundraiser for Threads of Life for almost 20 years. Each spring, we gather and walk in our yellow T-shirts to raise awareness and funds to provide support to families affected by a workplace tragedy. The money raised through the event funds so many programs and services for families affected by a workplace tragedy: peer support resources, volunteer and learning opportunities, and above all, the development of an entire community of families who understand the reality of the path you’ve been asked to walk after a workplace tragedy. We walk together so that no one has to walk alone. Side by side; stride by stride.
The truth is that every donation – no matter the size – helps make support services available to families and workers after a workplace tragedy. And we appreciate every single one!
If you’re planning to walk with us in one of the 30 communities across Canada hosting Steps for Life events in the next few weeks you can register here! It only takes a few minutes, and you’re able to make a kick-start donation as part of the registration process – check and check! Once you’ve registered, share the link to your fundraising page – you’ll have the link in your confirmation email – with family and friends and ask them for their support.
Most of the fundraising is done online, but there is still a pledge sheet available for those collecting cash and cheque donations. Just please don’t mail cash! There are instructions on the back of the sheet explaining how to safely send these funds to Threads of Life ahead of walk day.
And if you aren’t able to join us, but you’d like to make a donation to Steps for Life and help provide support services to those affected by a workplace tragedy, thank you! You can search for a participant here to support their fundraising efforts, or make a general donation here.
And on walk day, be sure to dress for the weather, wear sun protection, and lace your shoes tight for the walk!
As always, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Drop us an email at [email protected] with any questions and we’ll get back to you shortly.
