COVID-19 Threads of Life Update with image of lab coatJanuary 19, 2022

Threads of Life values the health and safety of our families, volunteers, participants and staff and will be monitoring the guidelines of Health Canada as well as provincial and regional jurisdictions, while making decisions regarding events and programs. Many of our programs and services proceed as usual. Following is additional information about current status and contingency plans:

Steps for Life –

Our volunteer committees across the country are working hard to plan Steps for Life events for May 2022. Many are planning in-person walks. All Steps for Life in-person events require that you are fully vaccinated. Each event will follow all applicable public health requirements or guidelines including mask use, physical distancing and other health and safety measures. The option is available for participants to walk at home or join our national online community to participate. Wherever we are, #WeWalkTogether.

Family Forums –

In 2022, we plan to gather in person once again. Everyone is required to show proof of vaccination for COVID-19 to attend.

Our Family Forum venues may not be able to accommodate as many participants as in the past. If you’re hoping to attend a Family Forum in the coming year, you can help by pre-registering. Pre-registration will open on the Threads of Life website on January 10.

More information will be available as plans are finalized. Threads of Life reserves the right to make changes or cancellations as necessary. Session availability is dependent on registration numbers.

Speakers Bureau bookings and events

Requests for Threads of Life speakers at in-person events are being accepted and addressed case by case, based on the situation and restrictions in the jurisdiction where the event is being held. Threads of Life has requirements and protocols in place to safeguard the safety of our volunteers and client audiences. We also have a number of speaker volunteers trained and willing to share their stories via virtual platforms.

Volunteer training

Threads of Life’s volunteer training for Volunteer Family Guides and new speakers is being planned for November 2022. Please let us know if you are interested.

If you have any questions about any of these measures, please contact Shirley Hickman, Threads of Life Executive Director, [email protected] or 888-567-9490.
