October 19, 2020 Update
Threads of Life values the health and safety of our families, volunteers, participants and staff and will be monitoring the guidelines of Health Canada as well as provincial and regional jurisdictions, while making decisions regarding events and programs. Many of our programs and services proceed as usual. Following is additional information about current status and contingency plans:
Steps for Life – www.stepsforlife.ca
In Spring of 2020, we quickly changed gears and moved our annual Steps for Life events to virtual, and we watched a national community blossom online as people from East to West shared their personal commitment and fun activity. For 2021, we’re ready for anything: some communities may be able to have traditional in-person walks, while others may need to stick to smaller get-togethers or individual activities. Some people may not have a community walk close by, or may simply prefer to do Steps for Life their own way. All the options are open and welcome. No matter how we participate in 2021, #WeWalkTogether.
Family Forums – https://threadsoflife.ca/programs/upcoming-family-forums/
All in-person family forums for 2020 were cancelled, and replaced with the first-ever National Virtual Family Forum. It is our intention to hold in-person forums in 2021 — please see the web page for dates and locations, and stay tuned for any updates to plans.
Speakers Bureau bookings and events
Requests for Threads of Life speakers at in-person events are being accepted and addressed case by case, based on the situation and restrictions in the jurisdiction where the event is being held. Threads of Life has requirements and protocols in place to safeguard the safety of our volunteers and client audiences. We also have a number of speaker volunteers trained and willing to share their stories via virtual platforms.
If you have any questions about any of these measures, please contact Shirley Hickman, Threads of Life Executive Director, firstname.lastname@example.org or 888-567-9490.
