March 26, 2020 Update
Threads of Life would like to provide you with an update regarding our plans for scheduled events, in light of Canada’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Threads of Life values the health and safety of our families, volunteers, participants and staff and will be monitoring the guidelines of Health Canada while making decisions regarding events such as Steps for Life and Family Forums. Following is additional information about current status and contingency plans:
Steps for Life – www.stepsforlife.ca
Given the situation with regard to the spread of COVID-19 across Canada, and the uncertainty over the coming weeks and months, it would be inappropriate to hold our traditional Steps for Life – Walking for Families of Workplace Tragedy events as community gatherings. Therefore, Threads of Life has made the decision to alter our Steps for Life plan to ensure the health and safety of all participants, volunteers and staff. There will be no traditional community gathering for Steps for Life 2020.
However, the need for which you are walking, sponsoring and raising funds continues — families affected by workplace tragedy continue to need your support. Communities and workplaces continue to need awareness of health and safety. We encourage you to hold your own private Steps for Life activity. Perhaps that means a solo walk in the woods, 5 or 10 km on your bike, or it may mean a small family or team get-together — provided you can maintain safe social distancing.
We hope you will continue to support the families of Threads of Life and our efforts to create awareness. However, if you unable, and require a refund, please contact us.
Workplace health and safety is important to you. We know you’ll want to walk beside us as we change course to your own Steps for Life, and we’d love to hear about your plans! Please stay tuned for more information about how you can continue to be involved, and the difference your participation will make.
Atlantic Family Forum – www.threadsoflife.ca/atlantic-family-forum/
Oak Island, NS, June 12-14 2020
Threads of Life will make a decision regarding the Atlantic Family Forum as the event date gets closer.
Currently we are not booking flights for participants, volunteers or staff. If the forum is proceeding, we will book travel closer to the event date.
Speakers Bureau bookings and events
Events and presentations occurring across Canada throughout the spring.
Many organizations are already advising us of the cancellation or postponement of events for which they had booked a Threads of Life volunteer speaker. We will be assessing each scheduled event with the health and safety of our volunteers and our partners’ employees and participants in mind.
If you have any questions about any of these measures, please contact Shirley Hickman, Threads of Life Executive Director, firstname.lastname@example.org or 888-567-9490.
