What is a Family Forum?
Threads of Life held its first forum in 2005. As of 2016, Threads of Life will host four Regional Family Forums across Canada. Family Forums offer families affected by a workplace tragedy the opportunity to come together to share, network and, ultimately, heal. At this special event, spouses, parents, siblings and close friends gather to learn coping skills for grief, active listening skills, tips on how the occupational health and safety system works, self-care, and so much more. This year through the generosity of our donors and supporters, with proceeds from the annual Steps for Life fundraising, we are able to offer four immediate family members accommodations, meals, and registration.“Making the decision to attend the family forum was a first step in acknowledging my need to grieve. I received a quick call back from Threads of Life and was linked to another family who experienced a similar loss and were a great listening team. They reassured me in my journey
for support and to find something meaningful for my Dad.”
